Services & Approach
Comprehensive psychiatric care and psychotherapy for adults, offered via telehealth and limited in-person appointments in Austin.
Each path begins with a comprehensive consultation to determine the right fit and plan.
Your initial visit completes a comprehensive diagnostic assessment of your mental health and educates you about your options going forward. We also determine together whether the practice is a good fit for your needs.
Shorter visits for patients primarily seeing me to manage their psychiatric medications. Each session includes brief supportive therapy and education, with medication approached deliberately and conservatively.
Weekly or twice-weekly psychodynamic psychotherapy focused on the deeper patterns shaping your thoughts, emotions, and relationships. Together we explore underlying themes to create lasting change, not just symptom relief.

An integrated approach refined over years of experience in academic psychiatry, depth and spiritual psychology, and embedded medical settings.
A reflective, insight-oriented approach that explores how early experience, relational patterns, and unconscious processes shape current emotional life. Particularly helpful when symptoms are embedded in longstanding patterns of relating, identity development, internal conflict, or unresolved grief and loss.
The focus is not only symptom reduction or labels, but increased self-understanding, emotional integration, and psychological flexibility over time. This work often suits people who have tried other modalities and feel a nagging sense of being stuck.
I hold certification in Transference Focused Psychotherapy (TFP), a structured, evidence-based psychodynamic therapy for personality-related difficulties, including borderline and narcissistic personality disorders. I also offer Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), a 12 to 18 session evidence-based protocol for PTSD.
I have a particular interest in major depressive disorder and bipolar spectrum conditions, with an emphasis on careful diagnostic clarification and individualized treatment planning.
As a fellowship-trained psychosomatic psychiatrist, I specialize in the intersection of medicine and mental health, and how medical illness, lived experience, and psychosocial stressors shape emotional life. My training spans hospital and outpatient medical settings in collaboration with physicians across every specialty. In outpatient practice this can include attention to how cardiovascular, endocrine, liver and kidney, inflammatory, and neurological conditions influence emotional functioning, alongside the careful use of psychiatric medication in this context.
At Mariposa Psychiatry, healing happens when medical precision meets thoughtful psychological reflection. My approach is rooted in the belief that every person possesses an innate capacity for growth and healing.
I integrate evidence-based psychiatric treatment with a deeply humanistic philosophy. This means combining the latest in psychopharmacology and clinical research with genuine presence, active listening, and collaborative partnership.
Medication management, if required, is integrated into a comprehensive treatment plan that prioritizes clarity, function, and overall well-being, not just symptom reduction. Patients will find that my practice values precision, depth, and discernment, where treatment is individualized and both the science and the meaning of your experience are taken seriously.
